Created as part of the Croome Redefined project, in collaboration with the National Trust: in the C18th, there was an aviary of exotic birds at Croome, and we wanted to make reference to this somewhere in the park. We made 8 large-scale fibreglass models based on a golden pheasant. We then invited 4 artists to work with small groups of children from the local primary school to decorate 2 of the birds each, basing one of their designs on elements of Croome that inspired them and one on what inspired the children. Each bird then combined two elements of Croome (the bird itself and the design). We also provided a 'bird-spotter's guide' as the printed interpretation, and binoculars.
